Team Building Day

In the lovely fresh outdoors, surrounded by greenery and a sense of utter tranquility lies the West Kent Shooting School.  Arranged for staff by our Directors this day was most certainly one I won’t be forgetting in a hurry.  Armed with my earplugs and a beautiful crafted shotgun I was ready to shoot!  I was new to this, so it was just as well we had a fantastic instructor (Mike) who showed me all the ropes and also let me in on a few tips and tricks to make sure I got my target. After his induction we were ready to begin.  I’m guessing he could sense the fear coming from me as I was called up first.  I was surprised at how heavy the gun was, the first shot was fired and I didn’t manage to hit the clay. The second, third and fourth shot was fired and I was still nowhere closer to hitting the target.

Emma was up next and she was fantastic, having had experience in target shooting she found her feet pretty quickly and was a real natural.  Lars however, who is a regular at West Kent Shooting School appeared like could hit the clays in his sleep. Equipped with his own shotgun he practically hit all the clays and showed us all how it should be done. I was definitely feeling the pressure now, as I hadn’t hit one clay!

Finally it was Joseph’s turn.  Looking cool as a cucumber he strolled over and began to shoot. Missing maybe one or two he was also proving to be pretty good at this!

So, I was the only one who had not hit the target yet.  The pressure was on. Trying not to think too much and just keep my eye on the target, I finally hit it. What a feeling! I was so happy I actually danced around with a loaded gun in my hand - not the best idea I have ever had!

We were all began to get into the swing of things and enjoying the lovely day it had turned out to be, not only had the day been fun but it was a great bonding exercise for all the staff & to do so without being in the office.  2 great hours of Clay Pigeon shooting really did help to let off some steam!

I would definitely recommend this to anyone, whether you are going with family, friends or work.
